The remodeling of the Chandler residence in Redmond, Oregon, was a unique project in several ways. The spectacular setting of the existing structure, with a one-of-a-kind view of the spectacular Cascade mountains and the famous "oxbow" turn in the Deschutes River, make it one of Central Oregon's prime view lots.

The challenges of completing a total make-over in the style of the home, as well as creating a natural landscaped surrounding, was bold yet delicate and well-planned. The original Victorian design was transformed into a far more traditional theme with special consideration given to all materials and colors used in the project.

The Ochoco Fawn stone used for the  exterior masonry was quarried locally. The nearly 200 tons of large lava rock used to create retaining structures and landscaping was collected on the ranch site. Every effort was made to ensure that the completed project blended with the natural setting.
Other special challenges are evident on the interior of the home, where new features, such as the expanded hardwood flooring and woodwork, had to blend perfectly with existing wood features.

The original red brick fireplace in the great room was reshaped and refaced with Ochoco Fawn stone.

The new mantel was cut from a juniper tree on the ranch. It was then sculpted by local and internationally recognized chainsaw wood sculptor, Chester "Skip" Armstrong.

The original entry was completely rebuilt, and the existing stairs were replaced with a curved stairway where the impressive craftsmanship is simply unmatched.

With artisans of all trades, working side by side, the well-coordinated orchestration of the entire project is a testament to a total team effort. The dedication and pride of each artisan is evident in this uniquely remodeled home.
